Synopsis: “Drawing Paintings” is a story about a desperate love, an obsession, insanity. The protagonist is a girl who is madly in love with a guy, whose presence is everywhere: he smiles on black and white pictures on the walls all over her house, he floats in her imagination, he fills up the air. Unable to stop thinking about him, the girl can’t sleep, she’s helpless and all she can do is wander around her house, frantic and lost, take pictures of him and develop them in her bathroom, and watch the lights of the city at night while she’s dreaming in a car.

Mira Nikolova

Mira Nikolova was born in 1984 in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2003 she graduated from Plovdiv Language School with a concentration in English language. Currently a junior at Ithaca College, she is majoring in Cinema and Photography with a concentration in Cinema Production and has two minors: French and Writing.

Her first cinematic projects: “More than a Feeling” and “Feeling Kyle”(2004) are a reflection of her profoundly emotional personality and her desire to explore and master the language of film. The next movie that she completed, “A Box Full of Sharp Objects”(2004), was her first attempt in the music video production.

Mira believes that music videos are one of the most interesting and unique forms of film and hopes to become experienced in the music video production area. Her next music video project called “Breathe on Me” (2004) focuses on the daydream of a female camera operator who longs to be the pop star in front of the camera.

Mira’s latest project is a music video called “Drawing Paintings”(2005). It’s a vivid example of the creativity and unconventional thinking of the filmmaker and her desire to innovate and surprise. Besides being a film-maker, Mira is also a writer. As a writing minor and a writing lover she struggles to perfect her talent and her most recent works have been a great success. She has managed to employ words in the same way that she would use a camera to convey her complex feelings and obsessions.

What is remarkable in her essays is her beautiful language and her unique style. Currently, Mira Nikolova is looking forward to going to LA in the fall where she would have the opportunity to intern with professional companies and hopes to learn more about the music video industry and get a real-world experience.
